UGA Leadership Opportunity

TXMI 4300 Students – Please see the following information regarding student leadership opportunity.  If you are interested and would like to be nominated for the position, please let me know no later than August 28, 2009.  I am a big believer in leadership to create social change, and I feel we need more designers in leadership positions since we deal with so many complex issues in our field. – Dr. Lee

“Leadership UGA was established in 1985 to recognize the truly outstanding student leaders on our campus and to offer them a unique opportunity to participate in seminars concerned with issues facing our state and nation.  Sponsored by The Center for Leadership and Service and funded by a generous grant from The Richard B. Russell Foundation, these seminars, conducted during the Fall and Spring semesters, will be led by outstanding leaders from the public and private sectors in this state. •The success of this program is due in large part to the very talented and eclectic mix of student participants from all disciplines across campus.  Therefore, once again, we need your help finding the students who should participate in Leadership UGA.  We are interested in students who have made a significant contribution to the University by assuming leadership positions and responsibility for programs and activities on campus and in the community.  They must be 3rd or 4th year students, have a good academic record, and an interest in exploring and discussing issues facing today’s leaders.  The theme for this year’s Leadership UGA programs is “Leading in Times of Crisis,” and each program will address this issue in a unique way. The program this year will emphasize accountability, responsibility, and collaboration. Students selected to participate in Leadership UGA will not only develop and enhance their leadership style, but will also collaborate and engage with the Athens community to create and implement a project to benefit a local agency or organization. With this in mind, I ask you to please consider nominating students who you believe would both contribute to and benefit from the program.”
