Sustainability and the Built Environment

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Since I am in the beautiful city of Santa Fe, New Mexico for a conference, I thought I’d send you some photos of the architecture. I am at the HERA (Housing Educators Research Association) conference that I attend yearly. I am presenting two research papers on “Self Preservation of Women Aging in Place” and the “Perceptions of Aging in Place Technology for Caregiving Dyads”.

Mostly Pueblo style, or spanish colonial architecture. The color palette is that of a desert sunset (various browns, some pinks, reds). Here is a link to the vibrant and dull color palette of Santa Fe – Red Hot Chili Peppers in Santa Fe Color Palette

A typical pueblo style home. The ancient style of building is very sustainable.

Here is a wonderful example of a tertiary direct complement scheme with this door that has Green Blue Green and Red Purple Red.

The architecture and design truly fits the natural surroundings.
