400 shades of lipstick contain lead, FDA findings

How much of your lipstick do you ingest during the wearing process? Let us hope not too much because the FDA has released a list of 400 lipsticks that contain trace amounts of lead. Lead is a known toxic chemical to humans. See the list of lipsticks and to read the findings here.

I’m confused about this. I am getting from the article that it is the mineral based color additives and the manufacturing process that causes the lead in the lipsticks. If this is naturally occuring, mineral based, and several companies on the list are organic/natural companies (Burt’s Bees and Colorganics), can lipstick be completely lead free? how? Hopefully, we can clarify this when we get to cosmetics in class.
